Sliquid began as a personal lubricant company, created by CEO Dean Elliott. As the story goes, his wife Cynthia was one of the many women out there who are sensitive to many of the harsh and impure ingredients used in the majority of lubricants on the market today. So Sliquid was formulated, first as an idea, then as a reality. Formulated by sensitive women, for sensitive women became a sort of mantra for Sliquid, and the company vowed to always put the safety and comfort of their customers first, regardless of cost.

So what makes Sliquid so different from the other personal lubricants out there? The answer is fairly simple, though many people are not aware. Sliquid is formulated entirely sugar and sugar derivative free. This means that none of the Sliquid line contains glycerine, glycol, glycerol, or any other synthetic or natural sugars; ingredients which make up the vast majority of other lubricants on the market. While glycerine is very slippery, once introduced to the 98.6 degree virtual oven of the human body, it begins to do what any other sugar would do…. it ferments. For those women out there who are predisposed to yeast and bacterial infections, adding glycerine or glycol is a sure way to kick start that process. Even for those women not predisposed, there is no reason to put yourself in harms way.

Sliquid uses only purified water and plant cellulose as core ingredients in thier water based lubricants, and a hint of aspartame and flavoring in the Sliquid Swirl line of flavored lubricants. Again, no sugar or sugar derivatives.

Sliquid was the first, and still the only personal lubricant manufacturer to offer an entire line of products that are entirely glycerine free. And as of the new year in 2007, Sliquid has once again chosen to step ahead of the curve for the well being of thier customers. As many of you may have heard, the EU across the pond has begun to outlaw the use of parabens as preservatives. While the USA and the FDA still give thier full approval for use of parabens as a preservative, there have been many studies that show a possible link between parabens and certain forms of cancer, including breast cancer. The movement away from parabens has begun, and though it will be many years before the FDA takes steps to outlaw thier use here in the USA, Sliquid has chosen to step up to the plate first once again.

All Sliquid products are now completely glycerine and paraben free.

The Sliquid line of lubricants has been gaining popularity among women nationwide, and along with that increase in popularity, there have been many requests to expand the line of women friendly and safe products. In 2006, Sliquid introduced their first step outside the personal lubricant market, and brought to you Sliquid Splash. Splash is a full line of gentle, pH balanced feminine washes. They are formulated as an alternative to traditional soap and water, and other harsh detergents. Infused with sea salts and wonderful scents, as well as unscented versions, the Splash line has done very well. The success of the line has inspired Sliquid to test new waters once again, and 2007 brings Sliquid Smooth, and intimate shave creme. Smooth is formulated without lanolin, which softens hair, but goes against Sliquid’s policy of harming neither people or animals. No Sliquid products are ever animal tested nor do they use ingredients derived from cruelty to animals. Infused with the same fragrances available in the Splash line, Sliquid aims to provide women with a full line of safe and friendly intimate care products.
